INFO TO CALCULATE MG of CBD

  • Calculating the milligrams of CBD in your Hemp

The first step in calculating you flower to oil ratio is to find out how many milligrams of cannabinoids are in your flower. You need to convert the number of grams of cannabis to milligrams by multiplying it by 1000. Now you can use the following equation to find out how many milligrams of CBD are in your bud.
Milligrams of cannabis x % of CBD = Total cannabinoids in milligrams
Example, say you have 5 grams of flower, which equals 5000 mg. If your bud has 20% CBD, simply multiply 5000 by 20%, and you will get a total of 1000 milligrams of CBD.

  • Determining amount of infused cannabinoids

Once you have determined how much CBD is in your flower, you need to estimate how many milligrams will actually infuse into your oil. Infusion rate varies according to the type of oil you use and how long you cook it. We will use a 80% infusion rate for an example.

1000 mg CBD x 80% = 800 milligrams of infused CBD

  • Determining total amount of cannabinoids (CBD) in your edibles

Total infused cannabinoids divided by the amount of infused oil you are using.
If you infused two cups of oil and plan to use 1/4 cup in your edibles, you will divide the total infused cannabinoids by 8 (your using an eighth of the total two cups of oil.)
800 mg infused CBD divided by 8 = 100 mg of CBD in your whole batch of edibles

  • Calculating amount of cannabinoids (CBD) per serving

To Make 10 servings:
100 mg total CBD in the batch divide by 10 servings = 10 mg per serving

Example:

So you are planning a dinner party for four of your friends. Your meal plan includes CBD- infused sauce and you want to make sure that each guest can have two portions. For this example you are working with the following variables:

- 7 grams of hemp flower with 9% CBD
- 4 sticks of butter (1 stick used in the sauce) - 80% fusion rate
- 8 servings (4 guests x 2 portions)

You can calculate the approximate potency per serving in the following way:

1. Total cannabinoids in milligrams: 7 grams in milligrams equals 7000 mg. 7000 mg times 9% is 630 milligrams of CBD in the hemp flower.

2. Total infused CBD: 630 mg x 80% = 504 total infused CBD

3. Total cannabinoids in your sauce: 504 total infused CBD divided by 4 equals 126 (Your using 1/4 of your infused butter in your recipe)

4. Milligrams of CBD in each serving: 126 divided by 8 servings yields 15.75 mg of CBD per serving.

COOKING:

Adding Hemp Flower to your favorite dishes is a great way to experiment and consume more CBD & CBG for added benefits. But there are a few things to keep in mind.

  • DECARBING is the process of heating the Flower to unlock even more CBD & CBG benefits. Place the Ground Flower on a baking sheet and heat for 35 minutes in oven preheated to 225 degrees.

  • EXTRACT the compounds into a carrier oil or fat to use in cooking. Most use butter or olive oil, but milk or coconut oil work great as well. Take the decarbed flower and cook it in the fat of choice on low heat for around 2-3 hours, strain the mixture and let cool. Now it can be added to your favorite recipes and drinks.

  • GRIND the Flower into the proper consistency for the type of use will help the ingredient incorporate properly. For example, if used as a flour replacement a fine texture is recommended versus as a spice additive which can range a variety of textures.

FLOUR REPLACEMENT

Replace the flour measurement with 25% hemp flour, so if the recipe calls for 1 cup then replace 1/4 cup with decarbed hemp flower. Sift the two together to ensure even distribution. And keep the baking temperature under 350 degrees for best taste results!

OILS, BUTTER & MORE

Once you have cooked & strained your fat of choice- butter, olive oil, canola oil, coconut oil, or milk, you can use it in virtually any recipe. Add it to soups & stews, swap out the fat in your baked goods such as brownies or cookies, or add it to a fresh fish or meat dish to kick up the flavor and added benefits.

It can also be dissolved easily into your hot liquids or smoothies. The possibilities are endless.

TEA & HOT LIQUIDS

You can add your infused fat, such as coconut oil or milk, to any brewed tea to create a quick CBD/CBG tea. Or stick to the old fashioned way to brew a hemp tea.

Using a loose tea holder, steep in hot water for 3-7 minutes based on your flavor preferences. Then add any honey, milk, or spices you desire!
